Beer Garden
& Events

Spacious and inviting, it’s ideal for relaxed drinks, family lunches, and summer afternoons in the sun. Dog-friendly and perfect for all ages, the Red Lion beer garden is the place to enjoy community, music, and a proper pint in the fresh Sussex air.

The garden features a raised bandstand where we host live music, creating a vibrant yet laid-back atmosphere and when the weather’s good we fire up the outdoor BBQ, serving up freshly grilled favourites alongside our range of Harvey’s real ales, crisp lagers, and spirits.

Keep an eye out for upcoming events below and on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

The Buckland Shag Morris

July 4 2025, The Buckland Shag Morris is a humorous take on traditional English Morris dancing. It is a fictional or parody Morris dance side, often referenced in comedic or satirical contexts. The group name itself — with “Buckland” evoking rural England and “Shag” being a cheeky double entendre — suggests it’s more about playful mockery than authentic folk tradition.

The concept usually pokes fun at the earnestness of folk dance troupes by exaggerating their quirks, incorporating absurd costumes, wild dancing styles, or bawdy humour. If featured in a book, film, or comedy sketch, The Buckland Shag Morris would typically serve as a light-hearted critique of cultural nostalgia and eccentric British traditions.
